Nicki and I had many shopping trips while I was there. We bought purses that were alike (only one was black and the other grey), bracelets that matched, necklaces that matched (only the charms were different) and what was really funny......while shopping for a top we both picked the same one and didn't know until we were at the cash register! How funny! We just had to have a picture taken with our matching goodies! Thanks for all the shopping fun and memories Nicki!

Went to La Grande yesterday to watch Taylor's baseball team play in a tournament. It was a grueling first game...they were beaten by Tigard (the Tigard kids looked like they were seniors in HS, while Taylor's team could pass for Freshmen!). Anyway, the second game was a little better. It was fun to watch the game and visit.

The 4th of July started out with beautiful color in my garden. Loved this butterfly. When back from Calli's, went to Uncle Bob's and Aunt Shirley's house to watch fireworks. We had to walk across the street and look toward McKay Park, but we could see them very well.

Where oh where is my new swing? It was ordered in April, promised in May, and still promised! I think the guy is a jerk! If we don't hear from him this evening....Earl is going to Boise to the office of Serenity Solutions (Serenity Swings)! Leslie's dog GiGi had 8 puppies five weeks ago, and along with the three schnauzers she already has...it was a dog's world.

The Junior Class from Helix High School, under the direction of Lorin Kubishta, organized, gathered sponsors, and placed 64 wreaths on the graves of veterans, December 12th, as their way of paying respect and honoring those who came before. They carefully arranged the laurels, leaning them against each headstone in the American Legion section of Olney Cemetery.

The students hope this will become a yearly tradition. they have named it "Wreaths for Remembrance."

It's a dog's life at my house. These two pardners in crime keep me on my toes. There are various times I make it home to find confetti all over my livingroom carpet. I had the honor today to present Pendleton's Altrusa Club with a check for all their hard work with our RV Camping Program at Round-Up time, which is handled through the Chamber of Commerce. Karla Lewis was (and is) a super hard worker and was my main "go to" person I delt with while sending campers her way. Once again, thank you Altrusa!

A Lyle Lovett Concert on Thursday

It was a hot day and we couldn't find the beer cozies!

Tiah and I went to a Lyle Lovett Concert in Eagle, ID on Thursday. We had a couple of days of vacation...stayed in a motel...ate lots of goodies....had many refreshemnts. What fun!

Look at it snow....NOT....it was the cottonwood fluff in the air. It actually went up Lyle's nose!
He told us so.

Lyle. Check out the ears! Ha! We were in the front on a far end...facing the sun. It was very hard to get a good picture. Actually, a big burly security guy came up to me and asked if I had a press pass. Of course I said no. He then told me to not take anymore pictures with "that" camera! It added to my concert fun! Thank you security! As you can see...my photos sucked! Tiah and I still had fun though.

About a half an hour ago...over the Heritage Station Musuem in Pendleton, OR. This isn't a rainbow in the traditional sense--it is caused by light passing through wispy, high-altitude cirrus clouds. The sight occurs only when the sun is very high in the sky (more than 58 degrees above the horizon.) What's more, the hexagonal ice crystals that make up cirrus clouds must be shaped like thick plates with their faces parallel to the ground. When light enters through a vertical side face of such an ice crystal and leaves from the bottom face, it refracts, or bends, in the same way the light passes through a prism. If a cirrus' crystals are aligned just right, the whole cloud lights up in a spectrum of colors.

It was a fun evening. The ceremony was like I remembered when Tiah was inducted into National Honor Society. Everyone had cake and punch after the event and pictures were taken. We were all very proud.

Christmas With Calli at Tiah's House, Dec. 20th

Briley was upset because he received "just a box of paper" for Christmas. It was actually a box filled with paper and a crisp $20 bill. He just didn't understand, but then came around!

We had fun celebrating our "early Christmas" with Calli last night.

Of course, I always have my pictures out of order when I load them, but you just have to use your imagination. The day after Thanksgiving, Tiah decorated her home for Christmas. Dave did the lights.

Kiwanis Krush Tour 2009

Tiah, Calli and I went on the Kiwanis Krush Wine Tour this month. My photos are completely backward in the way we experience the whole day. In this photo Tiah and Calli are deciding whether or not to join a Wine Club at our favorite winery...and they did!!! Mmmmmm, good!

Well, it has been a couple of weeks since the Peach Basket Classic in Walla Walla...their annual 3 On 3 Tournament. It was fun to watch Tara play, but it was a scorcher...113 on Saturday and she also played on Sunday! Whew! The spectators were drenched...and not in water!!! Here is little Raegan...trying to catch a few Zzzzs in her stroller.

Cousin's Weekend 09

4th of July Fun at Calli's!

We had such a good time at Calli's during the whole day of the 4th of July! It was kind of a stormy day....lightning in the distance with thunder and heavy clouds. It did decide to rain when we were all sitting down to eat our BBQ, but it didn't last long. Here Tara is feeding the baby bird...Raegan!

Wiener of OZ.....just what can a person say about this????

The Children's Museum of Eastern Oregon held their annual "Wiener Dog Race" last Friday here in Pendleton. It has become a HUGE moneymaker for the Children's Museum. Of course, the public thoroughly enjoys the running of the wieners! This year's theme was "Wiener of OZ" and it was hysterical. How could you have a Wiener of OZ race without Dorothy and the Wicked Witch? Hmmmmmmmmm......they look a little familiar!

Wow....the dogs even turned into witches!

Check it out....Main Street looks like Round-Up in June! People love this stuff.

Well, what can one say about this fellow?

I know he must have been so confused about many things, but he was a great entertainer. I like to remember him as he was in the 80s before he really got into all of his plastic surgery and personal problems. Yes, even though he did many, many crazy things, he was first and foremost a supurb entertainer. RIP!

Miss Raegan, aka The Princess, celebrated her first birthday on Sunday. It was a BEAUTIFUL day, full of perfect weather, wonderful food, great conversation and lots of relatives! Here Daddy is holding the guest of honor while everyone is singing "Happy Birthday"!

Fun at the Beach Last Weekend!

Last weekend I went to the beach with Dennis and Linda. It was just beautiful there...lots of sun! Of course, the day we left, though, a big fog bank came in and cooled things off quite a bit. Our hosts...Vern and Stacey, were so gracious! Thanks for the A1 Hospitality!!!!

PRHS held their awards last night and Miss Tara came out a winner! Tiah called me up at about 8:45pm and said we needed to go have ice cream and celebrate. Well, she didn't tell me what it was all about until Tara came in the front door with all her awards! Wow! We are so proud of her.

Here is our gal with the Outstanding Freshman Award, The Award for Academic Excellence in the Vocational Program (she is a member of FFA), A Certificate for Outstanding Citizenship and she also received an award for Outstanding Freshman Female Athlete! Way to go Tara!

Mother's Day Fun!!!

What can be said about this photo? My mom was a "champion" mushroom hunter and she always said "You know you are getting close to the mushrooms when you can smell them!" Ha! Tiah showed me how close we were to mushrooms! I tell you, I had the most awesome Mother's Day that I have ever had in my entire life. My girls made it so very special for me!!!! I was at home Sunday morning when at about 9am here comes Tiah and the kiddies all dressed up to hunt mushrooms and were ready to hit the hills. Well, it didn't take me long to get ready for the day! I cooked everyone bacon and eggs and then off we went to the Blue Mountains! Calli and her family joined us in the mountains and it did not take us long to find calf brain mushrooms. Of course, my favorite is the morel, but we only found a few of those! Actually, I think Dave was the only one who found the morels. It has been a tradition of mine to have Mother's Day lunch at the cafe in Meacham. I just loved their greasy hamburgers!Well, this year they were closed!!! We were all very hungry so we decided to head for LaGrande and eat KFC there. After our lunch we then shopped through a neat nursery in LaGrande and then back to home. Thanks Tiah and Calli for making my day so much fun!

Tara's District Track Meet

It was a tough one for Tara! Her favorite race...the 400, she was primed and ready to go. It had been a tough week for her with a visit to the Emergency Room with abdominal pains, but she struggled through and made it to compete at District Track in Stanfield. It was a sunny, beautiful day, she had her family there to cheer for her and the starting gun split the silence and everyone was off the starting blocks. We could see early in the race that she was going to have a struggle. When she came around the last curve she was pumping her arms and trying as hard as she could, but as she got closer to the finish line...we knew it was going to be close...very close. She came in Third (only First and Second make it to State) and her world came crashing down. It took her a while to get her composure back, but she did!

Here she is on the podium with all the other gals that ran the 400. Tara found out she ran her Personal Best and we are so proud of her. All these other gals are older than her and a little more seasoned. We know we will see great things in the future! Now...on to next year!!!

Tara's Prom Weekend.....

Alright...alright....all the STRESS we put up with in getting this girl to look even more fantastic than she already does! Wow! Tiah, Calli and I decided we needed a little REFRESHEE before the project was done.

Calli did a super job giving Tara "smoky eyes"!!!!
