Memorial Weekend Fun

On Memorial Day the VFW and Aux. had a Memorial Service which was attended by quite a few.
It was held at the Memorial Gardens at Pendleton Pioneer Chapel.

As Taps was playing, a young man salutes the flag!

Two of my favorite soldiers at the service!

On Monday the VFW had their May social at Stillman Park. It was our first "Hamburger Fry" of the season! Well attended and lots of fun!

Shirley, Bob, Sue & Earl is hiding there somewhere!

Sunday we went to many nurseries in the Walla Walla area to search out "focal points" for my front yard. Here Linda is admiring some of the blossoms in the nursery.

Sunday we went for a drive and saw this beautiful rainbow over Pilot Rock.

Saturday Linda and Dennis mushroomed with us and this is what they came up with! Well, really we found more, but not much more.

What a fresh, new morel! Very tasty too!

Couldn't resist the beautiful scenery in the Blue Mountains.

Here Dennis is checking out some shrubs for me. Thanks guys for coming to Pendleton and enjoying the holiday with us. I especially want to thank you for all the back-breaking work you did in the front yard!

Baseball and Mushrooms!

We went mushroom hunting Sunday morning and found many calf brains, but only a few of the morels! Guess it is off to the mountains again this next weekend to search again! My brother, Dennis and his wife Linda will be up to share the fun. Oh yes, the morels were wonderful for dinner with our steak last night.

The forest was just beautiful. I couldn't resist taking a photo of the wildflowers.

Taylor played in the field and did a very good job!

Here Taylor is touching home plate and making a score! Great job Taylor! Thanks for coming to Pendleton and playing on such a hot, hot weekend! We think you are pretty neat!

Great Weekend, but HOT!

Last Friday was our Open House at the Chamber of Commerce. We opened our doors to the public to show what we do for businesses here in Pendleton. It was lots of fun!

At the same time as our Open House, people were lined up around a city block waiting for Barack Obama's Campaign Headquarters to open so they could get their tickets to see him on Sunday. I missed the opportunity as I was working!

While our open house was in progress, we had Mulligan Stew playing cheerful music in our lobby. Thanks Mulligan Stew!

Farmers Market opened last Friday, too! Main Street was very, very crowded as people were buying produce, waiting to get Obama tickets and visiting the Chamber.

Mothers Day Weekend 2008

Friday of Mother's Day weekend I watched Tara race at the trackmeet in Stanfield. She got a first in the 200, first in the 400, second in the long jump, and third in the 800. It was a beautiful, hot day!

Saturday morning I took a flower arranging class, through the Pendleton Center for the Arts, which was taught by a very, very talented Kris! There were only four of us taking the class, but we ended up with a beautiful flower arrangement! Thank you Kris!

My traditional Mother's Day dinner.....a greasy, gooey, tasty hamburger from the Meacham Cafe. How can you not love this?!

We hunted for mushrooms, but only found calf brains and elephant ears! Here are my grandkids posing in front of an awesome canyon.

Tiah and her kiddies while on our Mother's Day hike! Maybe next year Calli can join in the fun. Thanks for the memories!

National Scrapbooking Day Fun, May 3rd!

National Scrapbooking Day at Hamley Steakhouse....what fun! It began about 10:30 a.m. and lasted until about 10:30 pm! Lots of creative things to do, visiting to be done, prizes to win, food to eat, instructors to tease!

My pictures are totally out of order, but you can view them anyway and enjoy our day.

All of us ate dinner in the "Wine Cellar"! I hadn't eaten there yet and it was quite elegant. The atmosphere was very nice for all of us, but just a little cool.

Queen Renee and her "fill up"....hmmmmmmmmm, that was a very big glass!

Our instructors were nothing but a couple of clowns!!! Ha!

Miss Carla popped in and greeted us all!

Here's to Renee and Melisa! Cheers! & thanks for the memories!
